Freedmen's Town Heritage Gala
The Freedmen’s Town Heritage Gala, scheduled for February 13, 2026, will benefit the Houston Freedmen’s Town Conservancy, whose mission is to protect, preserve, and activate Freedmen’s Town as a vibrant embodiment of Black history and excellence—past, present, and future. We will honor several distinguished individuals during the Gala, including Ms. Jacqueline Bostic, recipient of the Lifetime of Distinction in Heritage Preservation Award, for her decades-long dedication to cultural stewardship, and Dr. Rhea Brown Lawson, recipient of the Heritage Champion Award for her enduring commitment to heritage preservation that has made a profound and lasting impact. Additional honorees will be announced in the coming weeks.
Proceeds from the Gala will support:
- Preservation of historic architecture and brick streets
- Educational programming and public storytelling
